Just a New York Minute

You are a bad influence, thrall - two poems in two days - lol!

This one is for you in Manhattan.....

For our traveler on the other coast

Just a New York minute, she said,
running between the raindrops.
Soaked to the skin.
Streets a sea of people.
And dark clouds overhead.

But she stopped to watch the stars,
high above the marble,
and Grand Central Station -
sighed.

And wet with rain
Tears of the sky
The Celestial body's watched
As the sea of humanity
moved gracefully by..........

the eyes but other stars,
come to earth.
and faces galaxies of thought
captured and capturing
the fragile
beauty
of humanity

A twinkling of light alive but gone
An eon of time held within
A window of life reflected
The spark of life
Shine brightly and blind me............

Ah, blindness of a gleaming eye
opens windows yet unseen
as heart of darkness
glimmers bright.
and souls spiral free.

Too soon the brightness fades
a pinprick in the sky
but ah
the joy of seeing
what others
seldom
see

A grace given
Where the blind may see
refractions of light
hidden within darkness

diamond clarity,
impression's dream,
the roisterous birth

of kenning,

deep within the
well of midnight,
auroras gleam

sweet whisper of the
truth not meant for
ears and eyes.
But spirits

Thanks Sir_G - she is my Muse I think - she's sparked something in me that's been dormant for over 30 years (I haven't written poetry - good or bad - for that long - lol). thrall is a bad person - lol - she's corrupted me - lmao!

Yes I know exactly what you mean whippet she has done the same in me and I love her for it. My respect for her knows no bounds and she needs to know that because in life there isd nothing trivial nothing that is not important, because tommorow they or you may be gone. So again that you both for enriching my life with your great poetry.

To those who travel
Intrepid in the quest

Willing wanderings
Of earthbound souls
Still unready to rest

for rest is long and dark indeed
and never finds the day.
So quaff the wine of
life
full deep.
Taste deep the fruit
and vintage.
The bitter and
the sweet.
For life is but
a moment
quickly gone.

Complex the flavor
The tannins of life
Unknown the vintage
The blood of life

the oak so gently giving
its strength, to speed the flow.
The ruby red a jewel,
spilled, heeded, on the snow.

Within the depths of winter
Deep drifts of crystal clusters
Piled high, frozen

Glistening in the morning sun
Melting and combining
Life no longer slumbers

The pristine snow sweet blemished,
becomes a crystal stream.
The knots of care unravel in
a glint
of crystal steel.
Not metal, just, but
adamantine,
forged around the soul.
Directed, led, you
follow,
alive,
in glowing
dawn.

In seconds we live
A breath of time
In fragile moments
Joyous and alive

In metal we measure
The test of the soul
In strength we live
Untarnished by life

the clicking tick of life,
falling softly on the stone.
The blood of wisdom
pooling
beside the hungry forge.

Burn up the iron,
fold it,
twist it with control.
And as the shape develops,
weakness hammered free,
a shining length emerges,
linking breath to breath.

Strong,
supple,
confining.
Tempered liberty.

In time we measure
Minuets of the mind
The days we feel
Only moments gone by

Decieved we are
the depth of time
for we barley perceive
galactic time

A minute she said
The minute has passed
Are you sure it was a minute
Or a moment of the past

the dancing tock of time
waltzing through
the aether,
counting aeons
in each passing beat.

A moment passed?
A minute?
No,
more like a life-time spent
with each breath
of nanosecond spent.

Deception deep as darkness,
fleeting as a thought.
A minute she said,
or did she
mean the beat
of a waiting
heart?
